Purim ünnepe a zsidó naptár szerint ádár hónap 14. napján, az előző napnyugtától az aznapi első három csillag megjelenéséig ünneplik a purimot, a megmenekülés napját, az ószövetségi eredetű zsidó tavaszünnepet. A Gergely-naptár szerint idén az ünnep március 6-án napszálltakor kezdődik és 7-én estig tart. Zsinagógáinkban az ünnep estéjén és reggelén is felolvassuk Eszter-tekercsét a Megillát.
