Please take good care of yourselves. I’m not worried one bit, so don’t you start fretting. I’m safe as can be. That’s what Charles Fletcher told his parents and sister in a letter Sept. 12, 1944, written from the SS Santa Paula, the troop ship that carried him to World War II in France.
