John Rothmann doesn’t need to ring the doorbell at the 130-year-old Haas-Lilienthal House. He has a key and can let himself in. Unlike the 5,000 annual visitors who tour the exquisitely preserved, three-story Victorian mansion on San Francisco’s Franklin Street, Rothmann, 67, is family. His forebears built the house and lived there.
